Teeth Maintenance

Gum disease cannot be completely reversed, but teeth maintenance is one of the tools Dr. Thodas and Tran can use to effectively halt its progression. Depending on the severity, it may be recommended to have cleanings every 3, 4, or 6 months. The benefits of healthy gums include a healthier looking smile, fresher breath, and plaque removal.

What are the benefits of teeth maintenance?

A healthier looking smile

Stained and yellowed teeth can decrease the esthetics of a smile. Regular teeth maintenance is an effective treatment in keeping your smile healthy. On the day where it counts – weddings, office meetings, job interviews, dates – you will be thanking us.

Fresher breath

Bad breath (halitosis) is never a good sign and can make anyone feel self conscious. It’s generally indicative of periodontal disease or tooth decay. A combination of rotting food particles (possibly below the gum line) and potential gangrene stemming from gum infection, results in bad breath. The routine removal of plaque, calculus and bacteria can improve bad breath, reduce infection, and make you feel confident on those first dates.

Plaque removal

Tartar (also referred to as calculus) and plaque buildup, both above and below the gums, can result in gum problems. Unfortunately, even with a proper home brushing and flossing routine, it can be impossible to remove all debris, bacteria and deposits from gum pockets. The experienced eye of a dentist or hygienist using specialized dental equipment is necessary to catch potentially damaging buildup.
